1. What was your favourite wedding moment

To be honest there were so many beautiful, intimate moments on my wedding day that it’s hard to tease out just one or two because they are so intertwined with one another. Getting ready with my bridesmaids was special because we were able to relax and enjoy each other’s company before the whirlwind of the day started.

I’m not sure if the first look would be a favourite for me because I was nervous. Nervous for Chris to see my dress and hair, knowing I had veered off of traditional for a more boho chic inspired yet whimsically romantic slip dress that I absolutely adored. I know he adores me but in the dress? Suffice to say he did!

Three standout moments for me were 1. Looking out to my guests as I prepared to give a speech that I knew would be emotional, raw, and expose the vulnerability I was feeling. When I saw everyone watching and listening, It had solidified for me that we had invited the most special people in our lives who have watched Chris and I grow as a couple and individually, supported us wholeheartedly and only want the best for us. I knew in that moment – actually, I could feel in that moment how much love was in that room for us. And so I knew I could be vulnerable in what I wanted to say and could speak from within, from the heart.

The second moment was when we lit the wish lantern and released it into the sky. Knowing I could honour my mother and to know she was there with me. She had always told me from when I was a little girl that no matter what, if she was far away or someplace else that all I had to do was look up at the stars and know that she was looking up at them too. So this was a really special tribute to her and for her.

And finally dancing with my husband and our guests during the horah, looking around and realizing that everyone, Jewish or not wanted to join in and get nutty!

 2. Any advice for engaged couples planning their wedding?

Pinterest and instagram are your best friends. Everyone will have suggestions or tell you you’re thinking too big or not enough. Trust your own intuition and your own vision. Surround yourself with vendors who have a similar style to your own and ones that you connect with on a personal level; this is key. If that connection isn’t there then parts of your day will fall flat. And I think as a vendor they want to connect with you too. It’s okay to recognize when someone doesn’t fit and to part ways. This is one of the most important and special days of your life so design it how you want but also keeping in mind your own personal budget. I personally feel that I connected with all my vendors on a level beyond superficial. I hope to have these women as friends for life or at the very least inspiration on a daily basis. The four best decisions I made for my day were my coordinator, photographer, videographer, and florist. The rest I designed on my own. These four women were beyond exceptional with raw and real talent that surpasses everything I came across online. And they helped to execute my day flawlessly leaving me without a single regret.
