From the bride:
Your top 3 best moments and why: Having our photos taken during the cocktail hour with all of our guests surrounding us. We were crunched for time so we had to take photos during the entire cocktail hour, but it was fun because you could still interact with your guests and enjoy ourselves.
Cake cutting!!! This was so fun having all of our guests surrounding us with sparklers as we cut the cake. I chose to smother him with cake and he did the same to me! The pictures turned out beautiful with all the guests’ sparklers in the background.
Running through the grape vines for our videographers. This was so fun and hilarious. We were all just so happy to let loose and act like children. It’s probably one of the most fun moments of my life- running through the vineyard as a newly married couple.
Brad Paisley – ‘Then’
Brendan introduced me to country music when we met, and I loved it ever since. He played this song to me when we had been dating only for 1 year. He said when we get married this is going to be our song. Mind you, marriage wasn’t even on the table before that night! I was so overwhelmed with happiness. We only played the song on special occasions, and every time we hear it we both get teary eyed.
Our good friend, an aspiring country singer, sang the song live at our wedding. It was perfect.
Your top 3 favourite wedding details:
Flowers were definitely one my favourites. The bright summery colours of beautiful café au lait dhalias and garden roses were breathtaking.
Brent Miller Live did an outstanding job. Performing in the church ceremony, to the cocktail and then the tent reception. The quartet of keyboard, drums, violin and stand up base, worked perfectly as the soundtrack to a Niagara wine country wedding.
Hiring Love Lettering to do our calligraphy was the best decision. I envisioned a seating chart on a weather window frame hanging off a tree. I just searched on Pinterest and explained to Caryn what I wanted. The final product was a gorgeous seating plan, covered in Bloom and Co greenery hanging whimsically off a tree branch, it was a highlight!

The inspiration for my wedding style originated from Mike and I’s love for anything vintage and rustic. We both also have a deep love of the outdoors, and needed a venue where we could be in an outside space. Banquet halls just weren’t doing it for us. I wanted it to feel light and whimsical, with tinkling lights everywhere and fresh flowers at every turn, (I love flowers!) The colour scheme I chose was natural tones; greens, browns, beiges, with accents of purple and gold. I literally wanted my bouquet to look like I just stepped out of the garden.
2. Why did you choose your wedding venue?
I remember the first day that we both saw the venue. It was a hot summer Saturday afternoon, and my fiancé and I were visiting Niagara on the Lake. I remember telling Michael (my fiancé) how much I just loved the vibe I got from being in that area. I couldn’t think or picture any place more beautiful to have our wedding. It was literally the first venue we had looked at. Afterwards any venue we saw couldn’t even compare. We always knew that Kurtz Orchard was the one!
3. What was your favourite wedding moment?
My favourite wedding moment was when we entered our venue, sat down, and got an opportunity to just stop, and look around at everything we had created, with all our beautiful guests in between it all. It was a memory I will truly never forget.
4. Any advice for engaged couples planning their wedding?
My advice for any couple planning their wedding, is to just literally take it day by day. Rome wasn’t built in one day. Everything will get done, and try to enjoy the process. I now know how stressful and daunting planning a wedding can be, and I totally have so much more respect for brides, and wedding planners, and all wedding vendors in between. Stay as patient and calm as you can. Yoga, at least twice a week, really helped me distress! Try to do something for yourself and your husband to be at least once a week in between all the wedding planning craziness to remind yourself of why your doing all of it for
